Katie Hopkins said I was brainwashing children. But they need to learn about protest | Jackie Teale

As a teacher, I regularly have to remind students of the perils of using social media, but earlier this week it was me who came under fire for something that I’d written on Twitter.

Seriously, there is no excuse for involving other people’s children in your politics – especially if you are a teacher. The fact that Jackie Teale can’t see this (and instead has been given space in a  leading liberal national newspaper to make the case for this sort of boundary crossing) is emblematic of the lack of political self-awareness that is propelling Trump-style reactions. Imagine if a conservative teacher had their class making pro-fox hunting or anti-abortion placards so they’d “learn about protest”.

Carry on like this and it won’t be long before right-wingers start behaving in the same way.
